Announcement: Call for Volunteers!

We are opening our call for volunteers!

SDNOG has always been from the community, to the community. Since day one, we've relied on amazing volunteers who believe that helping and supporting others is one of the best ways to learn.

We're looking for people to join us and help continue this journey,  with energy, commitment, and fresh ideas!

Here's where we need you:

Platform, Media & Visibility: Website Designer & Media Designer

  • Design a social media template & visual identity system for SDNOG
  • Create and schedule regular posts and visual content
  • Help redesign or refresh sections of the SDNOG website
  • Ensure consistent branding across all platforms

Skills needed:  Graphic design (Canva or similar), basic web design/CMS (WordPress or similar), understanding of branding & visual identity, social media content planning

Infrastructure Maintenance: System Admin

  • Update servers (OS, services, dependencies)
  • Apply security hardening (patching, monitoring, backups)
  • Monitor and respond to support tickets
  • Document server setup and recovery procedures

Skills needed: Linux/Unix system administration, networking fundamentals, security best practices , familiarity with monitoring/backup tools, basic scripting (Bash/Python), and comfortable writing technical documentation

Video Content (Awareness) : Video Creator

  • Script and produce short, clear videos explaining SDNOG's mission and services
  • Create highlight reels or recap videos from SDNOG events/activities
  • Edit and publish videos for social media and YouTube

Skills needed: Video editing (CapCut, phone apps, or similar), basic scriptwriting/storytelling, filming/shooting basics, understanding of platform formats (YouTube, Instagram Reels, etc.), and creativity

Programs & Initiatives: admin/ Organizer

  • Help plan and coordinate SDNOG activities and events
  • Communicate with community members and stakeholders
  • Track action items and follow up to make sure things get done
  • Support logistics (scheduling, venues, speaker coordination)

Skills needed:  Good communication skills, basic organization skills, comfortable reaching out to people, reliable and proactive attitude, and comfortable documenting work
